His First Visit to the Zoo
Mommy and Beanie near the front gate, July 11, 2009, 4:51 p.m.
From Daddy: Today he had some TV time in the morning. Then we went to McDonald’s for Egg McMuffins. Then to Sunset Playground to play two-square and basketball. Then home for a snack. Then the zoo to meet Ga-Ga and Di-Di.

Then lunch with Ga-Ga and Di-Di. Then home for a while. Then Uncle Albert came to play. Then movie night with Turbo. Then Christian and Aaron came to play.
He said earlier tonight, “I like day-offs.”

From Daddy: This morning, when I asked him if he completed his homework, it began a conversation that included his saying, “Homework is the most important part; it’s not anybody’s responsibility but me.”
Wow.
Also, this morning, he wore his Rock Paper Scissors Lizard Spock t-shirt. He was still wearing it at dinner when Ga-Ga saw it.
Ga-Ga is unfamiliar with the game and ask him what is Spock. He told Ga-Ga exactly what I previously told him, that Spock was a very smart man.
Ga-Ga asked what “disproves” means. He told Ga-Ga that to disprove is to show that someone is wrong.
Ga-Ga asked if the paper is telling Spock that he is wrong. He said that was the case. He also provided an example along the lines of “Like when they used to think that the sun orbited the Earth and then that prove that the Earth orbited the sun.” I was shocked that for once he was teaching Ga-Ga something.
He was great at dinner, eating quite a bit and politely asking for milk to drink. After dinner, he politely asked to go to the bathroom. Later, we heard squeak-squeak-squeaking and we knew that he went to the tricycle and was riding it back. “Did you flush the potty?” I asked. He said yes. “Did you wash your hands?” He said yes. “With soap?” Then he admitted not washing his hands and returning upstairs.
Later, he returned to the kitchen barefoot. “Where are your socks?” I asked. He said that there were in the hall. “Where do they belong?” He put them in his shoe. In fact, he dropped them from the second floor because he thought that they would get to his shoes more quickly.

Getting a haircut. The smock around him conceals the race car chair, September 6, 2014, 9:30 a.m.
From Daddy: This morning, we made our monthly deposit into his Kindergarten 2 College fund, and then walked around the corner for haircuts.
A better look at the race car chair, September 6, 2014, 9:53 a.m.
I was proud of his for sitting still so long; the haircut took a long time. (The Lego Movie on the TV helped as well.)
He helped himself to his customary lollipop after the haircut (he chose a red one), but he got no bakery snack today because he didn’t finish his breakfast.
Later at his swimming class, I marveled at his post-haircut poolhead.
Swimming – Poolhead, September 6, 2014, 12:46 p.m.
From Daddy: We arrived at Grandma’s and Granddad’s on Saturday evening. They had drained their pool and while I was unpacking the car, he and Mommy checked out the interior of the empty pool. Unfortunately, I wasn’t present when Mommy recognized a look on his face and he ran to try to scale the wall! (Earlier in the day, we were all inspired by the performance of Michelle Warnky on an airing of “American Ninja Warrior.”)
His first attempt to scale the pool’s “Warped Wall” was unsuccessful, but this morning I gave him some pointers, and he succeeded twice!
Yesterday
We had so much fun yesterday! We took him to Chuck E. Cheese’s for lunch and games. It was his first time at Chuck E. Cheese’s and he’s been wanting to go for months. (He’s been influenced by TV commercials and recited their slogan “Where a kid can be a kid” yesterday.) He loved it and enjoyed the pizza. His favorite game was “H2Overdrive.”
