Monthly Archives: December 2016
From Daddy: Mommy and Boy have been away since Tuesday. I’m looking forward to seeing them tomorrow!
Two Months Ago
From Daddy: I’ve missed my family. There are in Los Angeles now, but they look like they are having fun!
From Daddy: Yesterday, on the morning after Christmas, we packed up the cars and drove to our “happy place,” Gilroy Gardens.
When we arrived, he saw the displays from Lumination (extended to January 8) and decided that he didn’t want to return until after Lumination was gone. The crabby-puss would recant that when I spoke with him on the phone tonight, agreeing that we had a good time after all.
As usual, we began with a ride on the Paddle Boats shaped like ducks.
(or click https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mNJ7jFhaaeA to paddle with us while I obviously didn’t know the camera was recording)
Next, as is our tradition, we continued to the South County Backroads where he drove us in a 1920s jalopy/roadster…
…followed by the boy and Mommy in a two-seat 1950s Chevy.
Next, we were surprised that there was an ice skating rink!
(click above and make sure to get to the first minute or click https://youtu.be/HhawueFqTuk?t=64 to listen to his commentary)
Then, without crowds in the way, Mommy finally got photos of us by our Chinese Zodiac sign.
Afterward lunch (Italian) and a ride on the Balloon Flight! It was already cold (mostly in the 40s) in Gilroy, and the flight made it colder!
Unfortunately, the Pinnacles Rock Maze was closed!
Then we caught a few minutes of the (really bad) Musical Market Show, but he seemed quite interested…

…while I took a closer look at the Temple of Heaven.
Then to the Monarch Garden, the Sky Trail Monorail, and the Panoramic (Ferris) Wheel!
AFterward, we visited our favorite display, the Qilin, the guardian lions.
Afterward, some time at the Oak Park Playground, one-and-done attempt to win a prize at the midway, some purchases at the gift shop, and then to check-in at our hotel!
The boy and I watched much of Zootopia. Here’s his favorite scene:
Then, dinner at the Black Bear Diner (mac and cheese for him), a couple pairs of shoes for him from the Skechers Outlet store, hot cocoa at the hotel while finishing Zootopia, and then bed! Great day!
This morning, after breakfast at the hotel (pancake, Froot Loops, scrambled eggs, and cranapple juice for him), he and Mommy continued on to L.A. and I went to work.
From Daddy: After a Thanksgiving Break, we enjoyed another Sunday of basketball! I’m so proud of his and his team’s effort!
He is among the best in his league at throwing and catching the ball! Click above or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0KtY_YsARI, or watch below for the highlight:
If he paid more attention on defense, he’d be even better! Click above or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Do41iTKMN7A to watch the game!
It was a good thing that he wore light-up shoes! It was dark!
The Day Before
I joined his class on a field trip to the San Francisco Symphony. Performances included an orchestral version of the Can-Can and The Composer Is Dead, composed by a local composer. Later, we walked through City Hall.
