From Daddy: Per his request, we departed for school in the morning somewhat early.
We didn’t attend before-school care yesterday for the first day of school (again, per his request), so today would be his first day of before-school care.
We parked the car and exited. Like we used to do, he gave me his backpack so that he could trot to the school yard more quickly.
We arrived before Outside Time, so we entered the school building together. We explored the hallway together and hunted for where the second-graders–NOT the first-graders–were to deposit their backpacks before school; they were in the hallway but on the opposite wing from where he deposited his backpack just four months ago.
We entered the main before-school care room–Room 102, the room where he was based two years ago in kindergarten and the starting room last year as a first grader.
At 7:35 a.m., the teachers seemed to outnumber the students! (I suspect that the teachers were more heavily staffed this morning.) Within a minute, the main kindergarten teacher announced that students would be permitted outside; he did not hear the announcement, but I drew his attention to it so he pursued it.
Then, I left the room–nearly run over by his favorite Wall Ball friend and little brother–to provide his medications to his care program teachers and to sign him in.
Afterward, I went out to the yard to see him line up politely and then retrieve a ball. He dribbled to the far side of the yard to bounce it against the wall. I moved to bid him good-bye, but he convinced me to play with him. After I beat him, three rounds out of five, his Wall Ball friend joined and it was back to his routine.

He was hoping to feed animals at the Petting Zoo, but we arrived too late to get feed.
