From Daddy: He had this swimming teacher for nearly two years! She loved him and was so good to him. However, she’s changed her shift and yesterday was his last class with her.

From Daddy: We parents can’t believe it! He completed the first grade!
After almost a week of being sick, he attended the last two party-filled days of school!

I arrived at school about twenty minutes before the end of after-school care/party. I said good-bye to friends and was invited to have grown-up snacks (sushi, fried stuff, etc.) in Room 102 (which I did, and that’s why the video above is so regrettably short).
Then, we left school, only for me to have to return to retrieve his emergency medicines from the office.
Then, we picked up Mommy to go to dinner to celebrate! However, the return to school and the running in, etc., delayed dinner and helped to tire him. He nearly fell asleep on the way home!
Congratulations on our nearly-second-grader!
From Daddy: This morning was his first at school this week after falling ill on Monday (Memorial Day) and missing school on Tuesday (when I stayed home) and Wednesday (when Mommy stayed home). Fortunately he was well enough to attend today.
His appetite was poor yesterday, this morning, and he didn’t even have much pizza at lunch today at the end of year party for the first graders at J.P. Murphy Playground.
I had the pleasure of attending and later he would say that his favorite part of the day was playing with me!
He had great fun playing a wide variety of things (click https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=84CJw2unARI to watch some Two Square action).
From Daddy: On Saturday Uncle Albert joined us on a trip to the Parkside branch of the library where we borrowed Ten Worlds: Everything That Orbits the Sun by Ken Croswell and Mercury by Gregory L. Vogt.
On Sunday he visited preschool to play.

He was so happy that Uncle Albert played with him!
From Daddy: He tried to show the family his Spring Sing dance yesterday, but it fizzled out above!
Two Weeks Ago
It’s hard to believe that basketball is over for the spring!
(or click https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=elYc9p8Cj98 to see his last dribbling practice for the spring)
For dribbling practice, we revisited “Sharks & Minnows,” an elimination game that used to make him cry. I’m proud of him for trying to hard and not being afraid. Click https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=40lsYvmpuWg on your mobile device to watch.

From Daddy: We had a fun but very busy Mother’s Day!
He woke early and wished Mommy a Happy Mother’s Day. He emerged from the bedroom and looked very angry at me that I didn’t do the same, but I insisted that Mommy needed to rest because it was before 7:00!
Around 9:00, as requested by the boy yesterday, we all had breakfast at his favorite McDonald’s in Daly City.
He was really happy to share this Daddy-and-son thing with Mommy. He’s been here with Mommy before, but not since he developed the routine that he and I have created: While I wait in line to order, he goes to retrieve straws for the dispenser. Then he has allowed to make his way upstairs by himself (there is only one way in and out) while I get our Egg McMuffins. I order two of the them, and he gives me his plain muffin and Canadian bacon while I give him my half-muffin with cheese. He cuts the egg with into wedges with a knife and eats them last with a fork.
Afterward, we returned home, Mommy said that she wanted to make cookies for his basketball coaches. He commented that it was more of a Daddy-and-son day. We asked why. He said that Mommy’s always doing things for us. Awwww.
The power went off in the house just before lunch, so we got him fed, and then I took him to basketball while Mommy could work on cleaning the house–another goal of Mommy’s today.
Today was the last day of this league and we won’t return until summer. This was a great few weeks, and I’m sad that it ended.
I remember looking out on the basketball court this afternoon and marveling at how small the kids were!
He has come so far in just a few weeks! Watch below as he helped the coach demonstrate a crossover dribble for the kids (or click https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4MIANUI2oO0 on your mobile device):
When we returned home from basketball, we all did our things: He played and watched TV, Mommy cleaned, and I went to Home Depot to get cleaning supplies. Later, we enjoyed Mother’s Day dinner at the Park Chalet!
Afterward, ice cream at Polly Ann’s and then home to bed. Whew!
Yesterday was busy too! Swimming class!

One Week Ago
He really wanted a friend to come over to help with train tracks. “I’m going out of my mind about these train tracks,” he declared. Trains led to electronics and pizza for dinner. He had a great time.
Three Weeks Ago
He had to clean up in preparation for the playdate. “Daddy says I need to pick up my toys,” he said to Mommy, “But, I need someone there to watch me and help me. Since you are my favorite parent, I think it should be you.”
