From Daddy: Valentine’s Day was a lovely warm day in town…which led to horrible traffic. We could not make it to swimming because traffic was horrible; we probably would have arrived after swimming class ended. So we trekked across town and waited a long time for lunch at the boy’s choice of Olive Garden where he had spaghetti, chicken, broccoli, breadsticks, and one salad crouton.
Still, he was pleased by his own patience while we waited for lunch, and we were pleased with him as well.
At home, we enjoyed dessert: We shared a red velvet bundt cake from Nothing Bundt Cake that I bought the evening before.
The next day, the boy and I had a great breakfast (two pancakes, one piece of bacon, and one hard-boiled egg) at Denny’s with Uncle Albert. Before breakfast was served, we played a fun game of The Scrambled States of America, the boy’s current favorite game.
Then we had a family walk in the neighborhood and a snack at Sheng-Kee.
Adults had the day off but he had school, so Uncle Albert and Daddy walked him to school. He had a great time and the walk was seventeen minutes.
Since we arrived early in his opinion (i.e., before 8:15 a.m.), he asked if he could show Uncle Albert his favorite part of the school, which was the handout area. He saw first-graders in the yard and a handball game in progress, so he joined the game (click below or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Y_YXYiZV-g to watch).
I put away his backpack and signed him into the before-school program. Later, he convinced me to play a game with him (which I won).
