From Daddy: I’ve been amazed at his proficiency with reading! I think that he’s only been reading for thirteen months, and now he seems quite expert. He reads signs and words frequently and sometimes he even reads his own bedtime stories by himself.
One of his regular homework assignments is to read a page with a series of short words and then a couple of sentences. In the beginning, the words were all based upon a single vowel sound (such as a “short I” sound). Tonight’s was a mix of long A’s and short A’s. He has to read the page to two people, and tonight he read to Mommy and me.
Yesterday was a long afternoon. He want grocery shopping with Mommy after school. He was busy, there was dinner, and he was easily being distracted. Also, the homework was involved: Homework included measuring things (I got to trace his foot). He was industrious and it was cute, but he was up late doing homework and asked me for permission to go to bed and finish tomorrow.
This morning, due to homework, we got a late start on the day. We called Grandma and Granddad to finish the reading assignment. Then we barely made it to bao at school, but it was nice that I had an opportunity to sit and share a bite with him.
I’m so proud of our little reader.
