Happy 6th Birthday, Beanie!

2014 07 31 Birthday dinner - ice cream 4, July 31, 2014, 6:43 p.m.

Approval for ice cream! He was almost non-plussed that the ice cream was vanilla until Daddy told him ice cream should be vanilla to permit cake to be chocolate, July 31, 2014, 6:43 p.m.

From Daddy: Today was his sixth birthday! Yay!

Early this morning, he marched into our bedroom and declared, “I’m six!”

2014 07 31 Birthday balloons, July 31, 2014, 6:52 a.m.

We was surprised by birthday balloons this morning from Grandma, July 31, 2014, 6:52 a.m.

He asked me to get breakfast for him. In the dining room, he saw balloons from Grandma and said, “That surprised me.”

Later in the morning, he played golf with Mommy. They joined a husband and wife duo to form a nice foursome.

I returned home after work with a chocolate and red velvet bundlet from Nothing Bundt Cakes to be left at home…

2014 07 31 Birthday - Turbo card 2, July 31, 2014, 7:25 p.m.

Peeling stickers from his Turbo birthday card. Several weeks ago, while shopping at Walgreen’s with Daddy, he spotted this Turbo card and decided that he wanted this for his birthday. We bought it. He was delighted and surprised (though he shouldn’t have been) to have received it on his birthday!, July 31, 2014, 7:25 p.m.

The Carrot Incident: A Look Five Years Later

Good vitamins and minerals for my hair!

Good vitamins and minerals for my hair!

From Daddy: Here’s one of my favorite posts of all-time from five years ago https://beanieblog.wordpress.com/2009/07/25/the-carrot-incident:

From Jen: Robert is very stubbornly refusing to eat any vegetables in their normal form. Fruit, chicken, potatoes, breads are all no problem, but regular veggies are a big N-O in his book. He will still eat baby food (pureed) veggies though. Tonight when he decided he was done with his carrots, he swiped at the spoon and turned his head at the same time. Here’s the result (which I, for some reason, find hilarious).

Scaling the Warped Wall

(or click https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8G7fAe6G_TQ to watch him climb the pool a.k.a. the warped wall)

From Daddy: We arrived at Grandma’s and Granddad’s on Saturday evening. They had drained their pool and while I was unpacking the car, he and Mommy checked out the interior of the empty pool. Unfortunately, I wasn’t present when Mommy recognized a look on his face and he ran to try to scale the wall! (Earlier in the day, we were all inspired by the performance of Michelle Warnky on an airing of “American Ninja Warrior.”)

His first attempt to scale the pool’s “Warped Wall” was unsuccessful, but this morning I gave him some pointers, and he succeeded twice!

Yesterday

We had so much fun yesterday! We took him to Chuck E. Cheese’s for lunch and games. It was his first time at Chuck E. Cheese’s and he’s been wanting to go for months. (He’s been influenced by TV commercials and recited their slogan “Where a kid can be a kid” yesterday.) He loved it and enjoyed the pizza. His favorite game was “H2Overdrive.”

After dinner (because it was 102 degrees in the afternoon), we played in at Santa Clarita Park / the Robot Park playground:
