From Daddy: I asked him this morning what was his favorite part of last night’s Open House at school.
Tree art — not art displayed at Open House, but worth sharing!
He answered that his favorite part was playing ball in the schoolyard (just before Open House began). I told him that my favorite part was when he reading to Ngen-Ngen and Yeah-Yeah. Then he changed his mind: His favorite part was playing that penny game, that kind of coin bingo.
He’s learning/learned about coins and money. Here’s some homework.
Also, last night, I spoke with one of my friends who is the parent of a first-grader at school. He said that homework was about half an hour each night, Monday through Thursday. We didn’t know if the after-school program (for which we submitted re-enrollment yesterday morning) provided time for homework. Some things to explore…
He has also learned about time. He made this and the carrots move. This was not displayed during Open House.
He’s learning about digital time and analog time.
He’s also learned to speak the time in Cantonese.
More homework about time. This projected was pasted on construction paper.
Remember that Tuesday was Earth Day…

…and we biked to the school garden to get a prize.
A homework item–it looks like a picture of an earthworm.
Speaking of creepy crawlies, in his homework he also wrote and drew a snail, just like at Open House last night.
On Wednesday, he told me in the car that we need to keep our house clean otherwise we need to move to a new house and if there were no more houses that we’d have to move to another planet. I think that this was an Earth Day parable that he may have learned somewhere.
