From Daddy: Yesterday morning, when we arrived at his before-school care program, we were informed (well, I was informed…maybe the boy already know) that there would be a Health Care Fair with games after school. He was asked if he wanted to help test “Fishing for Cavities.” He had doubts, but I encouraged him: I told him that he likes fishing (even though he’s only pretended to fish in games in the past). He was happier than I had seen him at any morning all week long! (Including during Wednesday morning’s trip to the bakery, below.)
That afternoon, when I arrived at the Health Care Fair, I was proud how patiently he waited in line with much bigger kids to do squats:

Later there was the Food Plate Toss. He loved throwing bean bags, but the part of the game in which he was supposed to name different types of foods was a bit lost on him:

But then a return to the familiar Fishing for Cavities

This exhibit was so interesting. The first-graders placed Gummi Worms in vinegar (bin A at the top of the photo) and the worms’ gelatin expanded into sea monsters! It shows the that gelatin would absorb acid, like from the stomach. In bin B (at the bottom of the photo), the Gummi Worms were placed in water with similar effects, though the water didn’t dissolve the color dye as much as the acidic vinegar did. Make sure to chew your gummis.
There was a backward High Jump that was also a bit lost on him:

On to a return to the Ladder Race (which he did the first time before I arrived):

By the time we got to Two-Minute Recess, he lost interest/energy:

On Tuesday afternoon, he was very emotional and he would tell me that he missed (i.e., was too distracted to hear) the call for breakfast. He has his favorite bolo bao on Tuesday mornings, so he felt badly. So, I promised that I would take him to the bakery for bolo bao the next morning.
We had a nice time. I parked half a block away and we walked hand-in-hand to the bakery. We bought the bao and shared it. He was pleased, but not jubilant. While he enjoyed the bao, I think that he knew that his routine was off and he most prefers routine.
