From Daddy: Mommy left the above note to him this morning on the dining room table. He found the note at breakfast. In response, he wrote the note below, taking care to have written “more than four ‘SO’s” in order to exceed Mommy’s!
He’s getting so skillful at writing notes! In January (I think), he was very hungry before dinner and wrote the note below:
He didn’t know how to spell the word “make,” and he started to ask me how to spell it, when he ran to get his recently purchased book Baker Baker Cookie Maker:
He realized that he could figure out how to spell “make” using “Maker”! I was completely impressed with his resourcefulness.
He asked for a little more dinner (well, the fun parts of dinner, anyway), and he very courteously asked and use the word “please.” I delightfully complimented him on being so polite! After Mommy agreed to get him more food, he very kindly said, “Thank you.” I highly complimented him again. He said, “I like saying ‘Thank you.’ ” What a great boy!
His little day camp took him on a field trip to the California Academy of Sciences. Mommy was very nervous about the teachers taking all of the kids on the bus. He had a good time, however. He enjoyed watching the sea nettles. He originally reported that he watched them alone for a while, away from the group. When I asked in more detail, however, he said that he was “this far away” from the group, showing barely twelve inches between his two open palms.
On the drive to day camp this morning, I spoke with him at length that he needed to follow the group (especially on and off buses) and to listen to teachers. He said that he knew the consequence might be getting lost, but I didn’t want to dwell on that thought.
