From Daddy: May was a busy month!
On May 6, families descended upon Adrienne Goo-Goo’s school for brunch and a campus tour. One of the highlights was the color wall–the art piece called Monument to Change as It Changes.
Every so often, the colors in the art piece would change like a waterfall. The kids would cutely exclaim, “Cool!” and “Whoa!”
We also found a neat fountain a took a family photo:
After the fountain, we took the elevator to the observation platform atop the Hoover Tower, which is 285 feet tall (the platform is 250 feet tall).
There is a carillon of bells in the observation platform. Robert was scared of them once he realized that they might ring! (They were not scheduled to ring that day, but Robert was still concerned.)
San Francisco Scavenger Hunt
Isabella and family visited this month. We have a scavenger hunt day!
On most years, on the actual day of Mother’s Day, we visit Ngen-Ngen at the fair in Dixon.

Unfortunately, Daddy was sick that day.
So here was the photo that Robert presented to Ngen-Ngen this Wednesday:
For Mommy’s Mother’s Day, her tradition is to take most of a day off from being a mommy. (Conveniently, Uncle Albert visited that weekend!) Immediately below was Mommy’s photo from Robert:
Golden Gate Bridge’s 75th Birthday
Last weekend was the 75th birthday of the Golden Gate Bridge. To celebrate, Robert and Mommy make a cake, scaled a hill for a view of the bridge, and ate some cake! Arlene Goo-Goo’s family got some cake as well.
(You might remember that Robert used to call it the “Go-Go Gate Bwidge.” It was cute, but he doesn’t call it that anymore. When Alaina visited in April (recall: https://beanieblog.wordpress.com/2012/04/15/roberts-spring-break-days-nine-and-ten), she tried and tried to get Robert to say “Go-Go Gate Bridge” but he exclaimed, “I don’t say that anymore!”)
Here’s a great article about the bridge (login required): http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702304019404577418440018082040.html
Robert completed his first real jigsaw puzzle all by himself this week!
“Don’t Worry Grandma!”
On Thursday, Grandma Carol called. Robert was in the bathtub so we chatted with her on speaker. When the subject of The Golf Mart came up (recall https://beanieblog.wordpress.com/2012/05/01/forty-five-months-old-today, Grandma said that she hadn’t been to Golf Mart yet but perhaps Granddad had been to Roger Dunn with Robert. Robert grabbed the phone from my hand and said, “Don’t worry Grandma, we’ll take you to Golf Mart some time!” So cute and sweet! It made Grandma’s night!
Robert was trying to get me to play with him. He said, “Daddy, do you want to play golf with me? It’s fun.”
As I drove Robert to Yeah-Yeah’s and Ngen-Ngen’s yesterday for lunch (while Mommy was home sick), he declared to me, “When I am bigger and you are smalllll– when you are medium, I will carry you. And I will drive you to Seven Eleven, and I will get you an Icee, and you will sit in the chair that I am sitting in now.” Cute! Especially for a kid that clearly really wanted an Icee.
