From Jen: I am writing this post on Sunday (day 11 of Spring Break), but I’ll get to what happened today in another post. Friday and Saturday were busy and fun days for us.
Day Nine (Friday 4/13):
We spent the morning at home today. I was doing some cleaning around the house and some work for the auction that is rapidly approaching at Robert’s school. By 2pm, we were on the road to Alameda to pick up our friend Alaina for a sleepover. We got to Alaina’s school, where she was waiting with her sister (and my goddaughter) Maia. We were excited to find out that they were selling FROZEN YOGURT as an after school treat. Auntie Alison treated the kids to frozen yogurt and then we all trekked back to their apartment.
After a little playtime for the kids and chatting for the adults, Robert, Alaina, and I headed back to the city. We stopped at the video store to rent a movie, then came home to order pizza. The kids played, I made popcorn, Brian came home, and we all sat down to enjoy Diary of A Wimpy Kid- Roderick Rules (Alaina’s choice).
After the movie, we got ready for bed and had story time before lights out.
Day Ten (Saturday 4/14):
Brian and the kids got up in the 7 o’clock hour and made pancakes for breakfast. I slept (Thank you, Brian), so there are no pictures of them making and eating pancakes, but Brian assures me it was very fun and very cute.
Now, Saturday was the big day of Alaina’s 6-year-old birthday present of having a tea party at Secret Garden Tea House here in our neighborhood. We have done the same thing for her two older sisters and she was practically vibrating with the excitement of it being her turn. We all got dressed up and had lovely tea (Brian and Jen), hot chocolate (Alaina and Robert) and goodies at the tea party.
Just around the corner from Secret Garden is Brian’s cousin’s magic shop. It’s called Misdirections and they have this cute photo op outside.
After the tea party, we went to Brian’s Grandma’s house. All the grandkids and great-grandkids gathered to wish Grandma/Great-Grandma a happy birthday. If you have not seen Tom’s (Brian’s dad) putting green that he has assembled in the backyard in any of our previous posts, here are two pictures of the kids playing:
The kids also rode bikes:
After taking Alaina home and returning to San Francisco, we had a mellow evening at home. Robert got some time on his keyboard:
I’ll be back soon with tales from Day 11!
